  • Pointer to an array: Pointer to an array is also known as array pointer. We are using the pointer to access the components of the array. int a[3] = {3, 4, 5 }; int *ptr = a; We have a pointer ptr that focuses to the 0th component of the array.
  • We can initialize the pointer to point to the array using any one of these three methods: p = x; //Works only for arrays! p = &x; //Works for arrays or variables. p = &x[0]; //This one is the most obvious.
  • The process begins by making a copy of the pointer that points to the array: int *ptr = A; // ptr now also points to the start of the array. This pointer points to the first element in the array. You can dereference that pointer to access the array element.
  • An array of pointers is an ordinary array variable whose elements happen to be all pointers. 1 char *p[4]; This creates an array of four pointers to char. The array p[] itself is like any other array.
  • However, for large arrays, it can be much more efficient to access and manipulate arrays with pointers. It is also considered faster and easier to access two-dimensional arrays with pointers. And since strings are actually arrays, you can also use pointers to access strings.
  • The initializer is an = (equal sign) followed by the expression that represents the address that the pointer is to contain. The following example defines the variables time and speed as having type double and amount as having type pointer to a double .
  • A pointer is a variable whose value is the address of another variable of the same type. The value of the variable that the pointer points to by dereferencing using the * operator. The different types of pointers are void, null, dangling, wild, near, far, huge. A pointer can be typecasted to different data types.
  • An Array of Pointers in C. When we require multiple pointers in a C program, we create an array of multiple pointers and use it in the program. We do the same for all the other data types in the C program.
  • In C programming, array names can be used as pointers. Learn the relationship between declaring arrays and declaring pointers in C programming, and explore the advantages of using array names as pointers, such as efficiency, with examples.
  • In simple words, array names are converted to pointers. That's the reason why you can use pointers to access elements of arrays. However, you should remember that pointers and arrays are not the same. There are a few cases where array names don't decay to pointers.

Requirement

Pointers in C++ are variables that store the address of another variable while arrays are the data structure that stores the data in contiguous memory locations. In C++, we can manipulate arrays by using pointers to them. These kinds of pointers that point to the arrays are called array pointers or pointers to arrays.

Are you an absolute beginner looking forward to kickstart your journey in the programming domain. Coding can be hard skill learn to learn for many but no more. Welcome to C++ Programming Essentials, the most fundamental course that every aspiring programmer should take to kickstart their journey in the world of programming. The course teaches you the fundamental building blocks of programming and builds a logical thinking mindset using C++ as our programming language. Many concepts taught in the course are also relevant to other languages like Java, Python, JavaScript etc with few changes in the coding syntax. You will understand the basic concepts and techniques to break down a given problem into smaller parts by drawing flowcharts, write pseudocode, and then diving deep into C++ topics like - variables, datatypes, flow control using branching & loops, functions, arrays, character arrays & strings, recursion, bitmasking & OOPs concepts. MIS Online computer course

May God Bless us MIS

Description In this course we will go step by step to build a complete custom MVC (Model View Controller)
framework Called TraversyMVC
using object oriented PHP. We will build something similar to Codeigniter but much much lighter.
This framework is completely open source and you are free to change the name, add stuff,
etc and use it as your own. This framework will include...
